So they want to move the Oakland A's to Fremont... sigh.
The ultimate decision lies in the hands of owner Lewis Wolf, an old rich white man with dollar sings in his eyes, who doesn't care where in the Bay Area he builds a new stadium as long as he gets paid.
Not good news for A's fans, definitely not good news for Oakland.
This old fart obviously knows something about business, but does he know how much the A's mean to Oakland? Does he know anything about the cultural bond between the franchise and the city? I cant imagine he does.
So what can be done? can we educate him? will he listen?
I think we can, and he will if enough people speak up. But how?
I herd of this crazy thing called the internet that can network people together where they can express their opinions and beliefs as freely as they please.
Wow thats a great idea, you think any one else thought of that?
Heres a couple of up and comers who were a few steps ahead of me and found an entertaining way of getting their message across. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlTvSUCCqPo
These two youngsters not only knew how to get peoples attention but they did so in way that is specific to the Oakland area, their target audience. By exploiting Oakland's "Hyphy Movement" (a spreading urban culture that consists of music, dance and slang) they get thousands of people to watch their video and hear their message.
So how many people dancing one the hoods of their cars will it take to get Lewis Wolf attention and make him realize he is making a mistake?
Hopefully not that many because it actually looks kind of dangerous but it is at least a start. I know I am only one person who saw the video and was excited by their energy but I am sure there are more and this is step in the right direction.
So will I then have to ghostride my Nissan to support the cause?
I am hoping that there will be an easier way but it is publicity stunts like this that when properly exposed can actualy sway 0pinions. So if it came down to it I would be right there with them making my best "thizz face" on the hood of my car while it rolls in neutral.
